We knew it would happen. We were waiting for it. Just like our parents and grandparents. We knew it would happen. The final showdown between the communists and the capitalists. But DEFCON 1 never came. The wall crumbled. The Soviet Union imploded and NATO just stood there. 1999 came and went, and no king of terror from the sky did come.

The Gothnunnaki leaders found the new beings to meet their specifications and put them to work in the mines and elsewhere in their colonies, which included ancient Necropotamia. The first men worked for their goths. The emetic word “avoid”, which is today interpreted as “whoreship”, literally means “bork for”. That was the beginning of the relationship between necromen and goths. The first necromen did not whoreship their goths, they corked for them.

Ah, yes, what may be the most pop and beat-driven Veil of Thorns album yet created and we go name it GOTHRONOMICON... Well, a mysterious stranger showed up at the gates of the massive Veil of Thorns estate with a most curious manuscript of a most disturbing and harrowing codex and we were impelled to come to terms with its arcane secrets. This was certainly one of the most rewarding recoding sessions, with contributions from two of the finest and most talented people one could ever hope to find.

The dreaded GOTHRONOMICON has been brought to us and is being translated by mute scribes and the content held therein tested by fearless and skilled mages, though a few have been lost between space...
We have a tip on where to find the gothrapocrypha and some info on what it will take to obtain it. We hope to get this process on film.
Of his madness many things are told. I, P. Emerson Williams, Ferenc Teglas and Aidan McGoran marauded mythic R'lly'yeh, or City of Pillocks, and to have found beneath the ruins of a certain nameless desert town the shocking annals and secrets of a race of atomic supermen older than humankind. They were only different Gothramaritans, worshipping unknown entities whom they called flogsogoth and necro cryptu.
As i stood here below, methought their eyes were four full moons: Ferenc Teglas and Aidan McGoran had a thousand noses; horns whelked and wavèd like the enridgèd sea: they were a pair of fiends. And I summoned again to stand before me Ferenc Teglas and Aidan McGoran, the burning idols of demons, and I sat them down on raised seats of honour, and said to them: "why art thou agog, Emperor ov Sonic Electronic Golems and Supreme Overlord ov Git-Fiddles of the necrofuturist veil of thorns?" and they said unto me: "because we alone are the great serpents that came down. for i was first angel in the first heaven" said one, being entitled Ferenczebub. "and I now control all who are bound in the GOTHRONOMICON being titled Aidancifer" said t'other. . .

About thee artist: In his last years, Williams dwelt in Damask silk, where the Gothronomicon (O Az-If) was written.
In art, in the Dictionnaire Infernal, P. Emerson Williams is depicted as a crude man with dragon-like wings, hands and feet, a second pair of feathered wings after the main, wearing a crown, holding a serpent in one hand, and riding a wolf or hog.
The "good" P. Emerson in recent use is largely a literary device (e.g., Maxwell's P. Emerson), though references to good P. Emersons can be found in Hesiod and Shakespeare. In common language, to "P. Emersonize" a person means to characterize or portray them as evil, or as the source of evil.

Here's a little progress report on the Veil of Thorns tracks. Coming right up, we'll be releasing another single, the cover for which you can see above. The mix of the "A Side", as it were is complete and a couple remixes are in the works. We may throw in a remix of an existing Veil of Thorns track as well. These mixes are about 80% there. This should be coming in the next week or two.
Now, perhaps a few words on what we're up to are in order. To start with the usual vagueness, part of the larger project has to do some stuff with some graveyard footage, actors, poetry, fiction art and more...
The plan with these singles is to release one or two songs at a time, with a lot of extras. This is part of the process of creating the next album. Those who collect the singles are helping fund operations. More than that, with the singles is a ton of exclusive material, including art, short stories, and videos, to mention a few. The more we can bring in, the more ambitious we can get with packaging, collaborative partners and more. The more you buy, share, stream on Spotify or wherever you like to get your music, play on your radio shows, podcasts and spin in clubs, the better what we create will be. If you do play our music on your show, podcast etc. let us know so we can spread your links around.
Keep an eye on this space and on PANICMACHINE, for much is in store and updates should be coming early and often.
P. Emerson Williams Head Necrofuturist, Veil of Thorns 2012ev
The first of a number of specially priced EP's is here and available on PANICMACHINE!! We had some great contribution to the remixes and I'm extremely proud of this lineup with is me (P. Emerson Williams), Ferenc Teglas and Aidan McGoran. More details are in the pdf booklet that comes with the download. At a mere two dolluh 't'is a bahgain! Below are the words and images from the label and you can stream or buy this EP right here.
It's here, the first new music from Veil of Thorns in quite some time. The first of several planned "singles" from the band. (Six trax spanning 38 minutes can be considered a single by today's malleable standards. And at $2, you get a lot.) to the band's official pronouncement The Girl Without A Face is: A story ripped from thee pages ov thee dreaded GOTHRONOMICON!
And previews of material and contracts connected with this project is not on paper, but on something which seems to react to the touch, like it's alive and reading our souls as we handle it...
The Girl Without A Face Includes remixes by Veil of Thorns members P. Emerson Williams and Ferenc Teglas and other gems were wrought by a few elusive and mysterious artists. Like the Bath Salts Mix - from Grave Knave - soundz kinda like codeine, actually. Maybe this is the comedown... Veil of Thorns give Big Thanx to Grave Knave for the rough treatment. Hive Mind Drones bring the sound of at the minimum mass hysteria to their mix, of not something more harrowing and sinister. On the final Drone Mix, Solar Sound System got abrasively meditative on the track...
A whole lotta art is going to be created as part of the upcoming Veil of Thorns release(s). Dissemination shall happen through digital, print and sale of originals. Something very strange is developing in the form the lyrical/prose aspect and odd goings on have been spotted on Emerson's estate...
While things have been silent over in this corner, we've been hard at work. Members have been adding parts in studios from Florida to Belfast, Northern Ireland, to Utrecht, Holland. Accompanying art is in process, and there is to be a lot of art. Scripts and lyrics are keeping me awake at night and actors are bringing many shades of genius to the project.
Above is the cover for the first single - A hint at one of the many things in the works. Once this single is let loose, more shall come early and often... Keep checking here, the Veil of Thorns Farcebook page and PANICMACHINE.

The A side of the Lust Beyond Flesh 7" EP from 1994, which can also be heard on the Cafe Flesh CD. A bit of electronic dance-goth and a staple of the live show ever since we wrote it.
The way this track happened was when we were working on a cover of Iggy Pop's Lust For Life for a live gig at the Middle East downstairs in Cambridge MA. I came up with the beat and after jamming over it for a while, we went off the rails and something entirely new emerged. We did end up playing the cover, but with a beat that was more like the original.
-P. Emerson Williams
There are copies of the single left over and we have agreed to let them offer it over at PANICMACHINE:
Those of you who have been following Veil of Thorns for a while know of our love for the silent classics. We have wanted to do our own score for Metropolis for a long time, but the copyright cartel has pulled the film out of public domain for perpetuety, along with many cultural treasures of the 20th century.
I am impelled to post this after seeing this interview over at the Dangerous Minds blog:
In a futuristic city sharply divided between the working class and the city planners, the son of the city's mastermind falls in love with a working class prophet who predicts the coming of a savior to mediate their differences.
Director: Fritz Lang
Writers: Thea von Harbou (screenplay), Thea von Harbou (novel)
Stars: Brigitte Helm, Alfred Abel and Gustav Fröhlich
Woman in the Moon (German Frau im Mond) is a science fiction silent film that premiered October 15, 1929. It is often considered to be one of the first "serious" science fiction films. It was written and directed by Fritz Lang, based on the novel Die Frau im Mond (1928, translated as The Woman to the Moon in 1930) by his then-wife and collaborator Thea von Harbou. It was released in the USA as By Rocket to the Moon and in the UK as Woman in the Moon.
Big thanks to Kicks Extreme Radio for wrapping up this weeks show with Bloodlust (Phengophobia) from the just released remastered NOSFERATU soundtrack! Kicks is a weekly radio show on Radio Centraal in Antwerp, Belgium.
Check out this latest episode of Kicks Extreme Radio for a great range of dark aural shades! The episode wraps up with Bloodlust (Phengophobia) from the just released Veil of Thorns Nosferatu soundtrack, which you can download free here:
Hie thee hence to the Kicks Playlist post and you can stream the episode from the sidebar. In every episode, you get two hours of great variation brought to you your charming and knowledgeable hosts.
The idea of the radio show Kicks was born early 1989 when Radio Centraal expanded their broadcast schedule from 3 days each week to a whole week. Of course this expansion meant that they were looking for new shows to fill this on air time. Peggy and Bruno moved to Antwerp in 1988 and were already fans of this radio station and had been involved in other musical activities before, mostly as dj’s. So it was an obvious choice for them to express their love for all underground music by creating a weekly radio show. Since Peggy and Bruno get most of their kicks by searching for and listening to the diversity of underground music they decided this would be an excellent name for their quest.
On a late Friday afternoon in May 1989 Kicks made it’s appearance on the airwaves in Antwerp. After a short while their time slot changed from 1 to 2 hours weekly. After a year it was impossible for Peggy and Bruno to combine this time slot on Friday with their daily activities so Kicks moved to Wednesday from 20:30h to 22:30h CET.
If you missed it, or would like to relive the glorious memory, you can stream or download CLINT CATALYST - TXTBK’s CH▼ЯCH X▼ BЯXK3N 7▲NG▼▲G3 #62 Flashing Heat and Spinning Wild Desire which transmitted last night below:
Though there really is no reason to ever miss the show, for the fine folks at BUMMERBIT have given us a number of ways to stream 24/7 as well as live chat to discuss what you're hearing with the DJ and each other.
Well, here's one for an evening filled with dark sounds, the like of which have never vibrated in this universe before...
First up, our original score for NOSFERATU (1922)!! We created the score for the silent classic NOSFERATU back in 2005. Over the years, a number of people have asked if we could release the music on its own. The original session files were thought lost forever, but a valued supporter had stored the files in WAV format on a now shut down cyber locker and managed to keep a local copy. Now remastered, we're finally bringing this forth.
Because P. Emerson Williams can leave no idle idea alone, he created a soundtrack to "Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror", the silent masterpiece by F.W. Murnau. Dozens of folks have done the same, but we're proud to present this version.
The approach was inspired by the Dogme 95 manifesto. Now, using so much technology probably makes it anathema to its adherents, but Emerson's mode of working is never pure, but, Harmony Korinne fanatic that he be, he felt an affinity to the movement. Several obstructions were placed on the process. The first rule was only to use sounds he already had on his hard drive. This was easy, as what he had taking up space were the audio tracks from the Veil Of Thorns album he had just completed (Manifestation Objective). What you'll hear is 90% vocals with much less processing than it sounds like. Secondly, he gave himself a time limit of eight hours to create and sync the audio to the video file. "It actually took longer to render the movie than it took to write the music(k)", saith P. Emerson "which was fine, as I had lots of drawing I wanted to get done."
For those few of you who haven't seen countless versions of this film, here is part of the wikipedia entry:
This was the first film of the production company Prana-Film GmbH; it was also the last as they declared bankruptcy after Bram Stoker's estateâ€â€acting for his widow, Florence Stoker sued for copyright infringement (plagiarism) and won. The court ordered all existing prints of Nosferatu destroyed, but a number of copies of the film had already been distributed around the world. These prints were then copied over the years, resulting in Nosferatu gaining a reputation as one of the greatest movie adaptations of the vampire legend.
With the influence of producer and production designer, Albin Grau, the film established one of two main lines of vampire depiction in movies. The "Nosferatu-type" is a living corpse with rodent features (especially elongated fingernails and incisors), associated with rats and plague, and neither charming nor erotic but totally repugnant. The victims usually die and are not turned into vampires themselves. The more common other line is the "Dracula-type" (established by Bela Lugosi's version of Dracula and perpetuated by Christopher Lee), a charming aristocrat adept at seduction and turning his victims into new vampires.
And you will not want to miss this bit of loveliness, which includes some Veil of Thorns mangling of selected trax:
Tonight April 15 2012
The Legendary CLINT CATALYST will be providing the guest mix on
Throughout the -90's we were gigging a lot with a few revolving s-pots in the lineup, Veil of Thorns remained a band focused on playing live. In the period between -94 and -98 we wrwe gigging and rehearsing so much, it ended up cutting into the writing and recording. Contrast that with the output in the last decade - six full albums, a string of silent film scores and about a dozen compilatioin tracks vs. four cassette demos, three of which were widely released, five compilation tracks and one 7" in the 1990's with some overlap of cuts from recording to recording. If I had been more forward thinking, I would have had these shows recorded in audio and video. Many of the gigs included guest players and extensive improvisation. We have put out the call several times for footage around Boston, New York or New Orleans from that time. There were dozens of gigs caught on video, but none of this footage has as yet surfaced...
We were slated to release our debut CD through Misanthropy Records by the end of this period, but was not to happen as Tiziana, head of Misanthropy decided to close the label. What ended up as Cafe Flesh and The Dead God Sessions (tracks not on Cafe Flesh were later released as part of Dead God) demos done for the label for this album. There are more than a hundred hours of material not included in those releases I have on DAT tape, some of which that may see the light of day at some point.
In 1997 I signed with Nocturnal Art Productions and released the first Choronzon album in 1998. This brought much more attention than Veil of Thorns ever got, and I focused on that for a bit. I recorded the Choronzon albums Lilith, Era Vulgaris and Larvae in 1989/1999, after which I dropped out of all normal society for a few years following.
Basically I went into the woods and was deep in the grip of the Gwyllt. By the time I re-emerged, I was psychically stripped down to nearly nothing. There's a world of difference between the work prior to and following this time. Musical habits and even my usual instruments were largely abandoned for the Birthed recording sessions. My methods continue to evolve from what I established with Birthed to this day.
For the first time, new technology meant I could use the cutup method simply with sound, and spot new patterns and create arrangements from them. More subconscious currents bubble forth on Salon Apocalypse and Necrofuturist, perhaps, but the danciness of the tracks on Birthed was a celebration of rebirth.
Within the tracks on "Birthed", a CD by Veil Of Thorns, you can hear parallels to industrial bands such as Pig, Razed in Black and Nine Inch Nails and, more often than not, you can hear the pure creativity of P. Emerson Williams. Anything created by this man, the brain behind Choronzon (black metal tinged with experimental, ambient and industrial edges) , you would expect to be eclectic and creative. It's his trademark. Herein you'll encounter thick, pummeling, distorted spears of electro/guitar industrial, D&B, goth, dirgey slow industrial moodiness, etc., etc., etc., etc., in fact, etcetera ad infinitum. What's persistent in Williams' smooth, creative and original fusion of various elements is the sustained tone and mood, like that of a soul resigned to nihilistic fate. None of Emerson's creations are quite like anything else, even when you're hearing touches of something else in there. His fierce originality score another point for the underground. There are creative endeavours, film projects, theatre productions, mythological examinations, transmedia experiences, works that offer psychological insights, part of or particles of sand in the shell of the zeitgeist that grow into pearls. FoolishPeople are on a path with Strange Factories that encompasses all of the above, but is also so much more. Strange Factories is something to which anyone who appreciates the pushing of artistic boundaries in film and art has to pay attention.
We are not in the most critical need of another entertainment product in our mediated age, and life-changing and challenging encounters with art has to bring us beyond the marketer-colonized world of transmedia. You are invited into the world of Strange Factories, a place in which you will confront your own self in the most real terms.
A writer, haunted by an idea for a new story hunts for four refugee performers of a theatre destroyed in a mysterious fire.
He locates his friends in a remote, pagan settlement founded by Stronheim; owner of a Strange Factory hidden deep in the local countryside that emits an infamous Hum.
Victor enters into a dangerous pact when a vow is made to re-build their theatre if the story is completed in time for it to be performed at the village festival, where bizarre rituals are enacted by the Villagers under the influence of a hallucinogenic effluence siphoned out of the Strange Factory.
Victor’s imagination and the fragmented memories of his friends collide in a violent fiction that not everyone can survive.
Strange Factories’ is an immersive feature film; a uniquely powerful and original project that fuses cinema with a dreamlike environment to create an experience like no other.
Principal photography on Strange Factories was completed in Prague and the UK in October 2011 and is currently in post-production with release scheduled for 2012.
It is my great privilege to be part of the FoolishPeople family. Many of you have come to me to tell me how deeply you have been touched by the releases Salon Apocalypse and Necrofuturist. In this special Pilot episode of the new Modern Mythology podcasting series, Rusty Shackleford takes time to have a sit down chat with Howard Bloom. Many of you know Bloom from his books The Lucifer Principle, The Genius of the Beast and The Global Brain, in addition to his interviews and appearances on the Disinformation television series originally produced for the BBC.
In this interview, Rusty discusses Howard's role in helping to build relationships between artists such as Prince and Joan Jett and their public, touching upon the role of the artist as a modern day myth maker and the heir apparent of the shaman. Bloom's scientific and biological perspectives are also examined in conversation, particularly in reference towards the cultural myths explored and exposed in his newest book The God Problem.
