Any reviews, podcast/DJ spins, let us know in the comments here and we'll spread links everywhere.

Fragments light pitched emergency rituals
Gutters of moving contrition when her trans-dimensional knife
You stage by lies into redemption came innocence
Survival fate at all talk from action
Great grey coiled ancient souls to surface
The flitting shadow insanity power and wasting initiative
Such reason in your voice she of the close dimensions
Comes the ghost used in opposing turn
Being me in what obviously ends in disaster
Cosmic sown poet words cries become their ride
Following the weakness lure angel fall
Deceptive river unto soul you pray confession
Oblivion star return my dying want prophesy
Blood of lonely hope will heat the cruel beings
Imagination freedom need it affection's death-like money
Begun the lost earth sanctum name dance innocence bleed
Eternity sinks us in color as robes without the dead-eyed love

Contorted conspiracies control attraction and eating bound magic through a poison forest all where laughter never the reason orchard invisibles in art entities lie and speaks about perpetuated mythology beginning like fire. Veil of Thorns - Dosage

Dosage

In a society racing towards oblivion, its machinic egregoreplex advances control processes that are ultimately futile. The psyche breaks down under the strain and reconfigures as a medium for an alien intelligence. The demonic is a manifestation of future shadow selves transmitted from down the darkest timeline. About Veil of Thorns

Veil of Thorns is an ever evolving concept born of the fevered brain of P. Emerson Williams. Among the growing list of
collaborators one can find authors, actors and musicians of many genres, reflecting the scope of what P. Emerson
Williams calls Necrofuturist art.

Both "Salon Apocalypse" and NECROFUTURIST grew out of the process of working on “The Abattoir Pages” as part of FoolishPeople. The intention was to finish “Salon Apocalypse“, as the concept I had been working with for this release was in the same realm that John Harrigan tapped into for “Abattoir Pages“. Through countless sleepless nights and days of madness, “Necrofuturist” wrote itself as a further expansion of the studies and current we were working with. I would not have chosen to take on so much in such a short period of time, but I really had no choice in the matter.

“Salon Apocalypse“, “Necrofuturist” and “Abattoir Pages” are inextricably linked, through current and source materials, all preparing the ground for a future work, for which all this work is a mere prologue.

"Both releases are giant steps in a direction one would not have suspected after “Cognitive Dissonance“. In fact, as I go through the Veil of Thorns catalog – this is close to the shift that occurred with the 2003′s “Birthed“." - The Other Sound Magazine

It’s a masterpiece from beginning to end. P. Emerson Williams is brilliant. He is a master musician whose ability to dive into the darkness – while remaining a musician, is unprecedented in our modern age. Where other artists like to rely on shocking lyrics, or cool effects… Williams writes good musick, and plays most of it himself – again “masterfully”. “Salon Apocalypse” is a aural drama played out for your ears. It weaves in and out of a apocalyptic story line that is just out of reach… The musick… ah, the musick. It’s out of reach to. Death Metal, ambient, noise, industrial, hip-hop, vocal…. it’s all there. Seamlessly. Think of it as a production. Perhaps a musical of the insane… but start to finish it’s complete brilliance. Pulling one track out makes no sense, as the release as a whole plays as a complete work. The musick is everywhere (gothick, metal, hip hop, ambient, everything), yet the release is incredibly cohesive. If you are interested in hearing bit’s and pieces then tune into Inner-X-Musick Radio… it should pop up some what frequently. -TBM

GOTHRONOMICON

Ah, yes, what may be the most pop and beat-driven Veil of Thorns album yet created and we go name it GOTHRONOMICON... Well, a mysterious stranger showed up at the gates of the massive Veil of Thorns estate with a most curious manuscript of a most disturbing and harrowing codex and we were impelled to come to terms with its arcane secrets. This was certainly one of the most rewarding recoding sessions, with contributions from two of the finest and most talented people one could ever hope to find.
Veil of Thorns - GOTHRONOMICON CD
$12.00 + S&H

The dreaded GOTHRONOMICON has been brought to us and is being translated by mute scribes and the content held therein tested by fearless and skilled mages, though a few have been lost between space...

We have a tip on where to find the gothrapocrypha and some info on what it will take to obtain it. We hope to get this process on film.
Of his madness many things are told. I, P. Emerson Williams, Ferenc Teglas and Aidan McGoran marauded mythic R'lly'yeh, or City of Pillocks, and to have found beneath the ruins of a certain nameless desert town the shocking annals and secrets of a race of atomic supermen older than humankind. They were only different Gothramaritans, worshipping unknown entities whom they called flogsogoth and necro cryptu.
As i stood here below, methought their eyes were four full moons: Ferenc Teglas and Aidan McGoran had a thousand noses; horns whelked and wavèd like the enridgèd sea: they were a pair of fiends. And I summoned again to stand before me Ferenc Teglas and Aidan McGoran, the burning idols of demons, and I sat them down on raised seats of honour, and said to them: "why art thou agog, Emperor ov Sonic Electronic Golems and Supreme Overlord ov Git-Fiddles of the necrofuturist veil of thorns?" and they said unto me: "because we alone are the great serpents that came down. for i was first angel in the first heaven" said one, being entitled Ferenczebub. "and I now control all who are bound in the GOTHRONOMICON being titled Aidancifer" said t'other. . .

About thee artist:
In his last years, Williams dwelt in Damask silk, where the Gothronomicon (O Az-If) was written.
In art, in the Dictionnaire Infernal, P. Emerson Williams is depicted as a crude man with dragon-like wings, hands and feet, a second pair of feathered wings after the main, wearing a crown, holding a serpent in one hand, and riding a wolf or hog.
The "good" P. Emerson in recent use is largely a literary device (e.g., Maxwell's P. Emerson), though references to good P. Emersons can be found in Hesiod and Shakespeare. In common language, to "P. Emersonize" a person means to characterize or portray them as evil, or as the source of evil.

Veil of Thorns - Lust Beyond Flesh Video

The A side of the Lust Beyond Flesh 7" EP from 1994, which can also be heard on the Cafe Flesh CD. A bit of electronic dance-goth and a staple of the live show ever since we wrote it.

The way this track happened was when we were working on a cover of Iggy Pop's Lust For Life for a live gig at the Middle East downstairs in Cambridge MA. I came up with the beat and after jamming over it for a while, we went off the rails and something entirely new emerged. We did end up playing the cover, but with a beat that was more like the original.

-P. Emerson Williams

There are copies of the single left over and we have agreed to let them offer it over at PANICMACHINE:

NOSFERATU And TXTBK’s CH▼ЯCH X▼ BЯXK3N 7▲NG▼▲G3

Well, here's one for an evening filled with dark sounds, the like of which have never vibrated in this universe before...

First up, our original score for NOSFERATU (1922)!! We created the score for the silent classic NOSFERATU back in 2005. Over the years, a number of people have asked if we could release the music on its own. The original session files were thought lost forever, but a valued supporter had stored the files in WAV format on a now shut down cyber locker and managed to keep a local copy. Now remastered, we're finally bringing this forth.

Because P. Emerson Williams can leave no idle idea alone, he created a soundtrack to "Nosferatu, a Symphony of Horror", the silent masterpiece by F.W. Murnau. Dozens of folks have done the same, but we're proud to present this version.

The approach was inspired by the Dogme 95 manifesto. Now, using so much technology probably makes it anathema to its adherents, but Emerson's mode of working is never pure, but, Harmony Korinne fanatic that he be, he felt an affinity to the movement. Several obstructions were placed on the process. The first rule was only to use sounds he already had on his hard drive. This was easy, as what he had taking up space were the audio tracks from the Veil Of Thorns album he had just completed (Manifestation Objective). What you'll hear is 90% vocals with much less processing than it sounds like. Secondly, he gave himself a time limit of eight hours to create and sync the audio to the video file. "It actually took longer to render the movie than it took to write the music(k)", saith P. Emerson "which was fine, as I had lots of drawing I wanted to get done."

For those few of you who haven't seen countless versions of this film, here is part of the wikipedia entry:

This was the first film of the production company Prana-Film GmbH; it was also the last as they declared bankruptcy after Bram Stoker's estateâۉ€acting for his widow, Florence Stoker sued for copyright infringement (plagiarism) and won. The court ordered all existing prints of Nosferatu destroyed, but a number of copies of the film had already been distributed around the world. These prints were then copied over the years, resulting in Nosferatu gaining a reputation as one of the greatest movie adaptations of the vampire legend.

With the influence of producer and production designer, Albin Grau, the film established one of two main lines of vampire depiction in movies. The "Nosferatu-type" is a living corpse with rodent features (especially elongated fingernails and incisors), associated with rats and plague, and neither charming nor erotic but totally repugnant. The victims usually die and are not turned into vampires themselves. The more common other line is the "Dracula-type" (established by Bela Lugosi's version of Dracula and perpetuated by Christopher Lee), a charming aristocrat adept at seduction and turning his victims into new vampires.

And you will not want to miss this bit of loveliness, which includes some Veil of Thorns mangling of selected trax:

Necrofuturist Episode 32 - Beastern Crabalistic Sources

The Necrofuturist Illuminati were set up for "gothronomic intriguing rather than in speculation", the Necrofuturist Illuminati became "much more characteristic of a cross-dimensional militia in action than a disorder with initiations." P. Emerson Williams' contempt for certain exoteric pursuits - as a "thing-in-itself" - was widely known: "... in Williams' system the phraseology of Gothraism, the Necrolistic legends of Freemasonry, the mystical imaginings of the Fartinistes, play at first no part at all. For all forms of 'gothosophy,' gnoccicism, refined spiritsism, and musick-magick Williams expresses nothing but contemporaneousness, and the Doze-Croix Necromasons are bracketed with the Necruits by the Necrofuturist Illuminati as enemas it is necessary to out-twit at every turn. Consequently no degree of Doze-Croix finds a place in Williams' system, as in all the other Gothtronic orders of the day which drew their influence from Beastern or Crabalistic sources."

A Few Selected P. Emerson Williams Writings on Goth

Veil of Thorns may cover a lot of sonic and visual ground, but there's no denying the goth roots and inspirations that have made us what we are. In between the musical and visual endeavours, I'm sometimes impelled with the need to write, and inspiration is often our beloved genre. Some times I do it on my personal blog, over at Modern Mythology, or the kkoagublogg and I am privileged to be allowed to write for Dominion magazine on occasion. Here are a few goth related highlights from 2011:

A conversation with Louis DeWray On Behalf of NOSFERATU

When one speaks of bands representing capital G goth, no better example can be found than Nosferatu. With this, that and the other hyphenated fashion take on goth coming and going in the over two decades of the band’s existence they never compromised their fundamental dark and romantic style. Their fans remain loyal and in return Nosferatu are no less loyal to their audience and to the edifice of dark art they have built. That ‘Wonderland’, their latest album shot to the top spot of the dark wave charts on Amazon UK attests to the depth of this symbiotic relationship.

A week after a triumphant performance at WGT Nosferatu front man Louis DeWray was viciously assaulted, bringing up ugly memories of the attack on Sophie Lancaster. «As you may have read, I’ve had a somewhat difficult week…» is how he put it to me. With characteristic kindness and strength of character he shared his thoughts on Nosferatu’s long awaited return, the goth scene and hipsters among other things just a few days after the attack. Louts, thugs and reactionaries notwithstanding, Louis DeWray shows that Nosferatu and goths are here to stay. We pull together in support during hard times, just as we do under happier circumstances. The attack has made every member of Nosferatu all the more determined to play a great gig at DV8 (UK) and Castle Party (Poland) in a week’s time. “Luckily my spirit is stronger than my jaw!” Louis DeWray said to me. “It was a sad irony that at least one of us was wearing a ‘Sophie’ wristband when we were attacked…”

Read the interview at Dominion Magazine.

The armies of the dark returned last year. Really. The goth aesthetic, dark sounds, grabs tastemakers by their smug throats as silhouettes of hipsters can be seen, dancing among the graves as the world heats up and economies wobble on their precarious perches. The Quietus, Pitchfork and Stereogum are directing a surprisingly unironic gaze at artists waving an undeniably gothic banner. Post-punk is invoked in descriptions of more ‘band to watch’ blogotronic hosannas than one could reasonably keep up with. The thing about this return is that it’s news, to those of us who have stayed with the scene, that it ever went away.

Dream Quest of Unknown GaGoth

My article this week for Dominion Mag pointed out a new appreciation for things goth, darkwave and generally creepy and went into some questions that arose as I looked the situation over. Some answers presented themselves as I wrote, more from reactions to the piece and this acknowlegment of dark creative endeavours contiues to spread with no signs of slowing down. Later this month, the ICA wioll gather boffins together to dissect gothic manifestations of culture in their two day meditation Template for Terror: The Revival of the Gothic.

Quoth the ICA event page:
From Dracula and Frankenstein to Twilight and Shaun of the Dead, contemporary culture continues to appropriate the stock themes of the eighteenth and nineteenth century gothic novel. This weekend of panel discussions, presentations and screenings will explore the societal impulse that draws us to the darker side of life, looking at the influence of the gothic in contemporary art, literature, film and music.

The GSpot: Solipsistic Nation

Joseph Matheny interviews “another Joe”, AKA Bazooka Joe, from Solipsistic Nation and formerly of the smallWorld. They talk about music, podcasting and get into a weird Joe to Joe cross interview feedback loop.

Also, another episode of In Your Ear, this week reviewing “Variant Frequencies” a podcast of (mostly) short fiction in the horror/subgenre sci-fi vein. From Puske: I pay special attention to the podcast novel which they debuted - “The Failed Cities Monologues” http://www.podiobooks.com/title/the-failed-cities-monologues/) - link is to the podiobooks version.

Veil of Thorns had the pleasure of playing live on Bazooka Joe's show on WMFO in Massachusetts way back in the dark ages. I'll include those here:

Veil of Thorns first radio appearance one dark Saturday night on Tufts college free-form radio. The second guitarist was Jarrett Laitinen, who I recently learned died of a heroin overdose in 2004. In his final year he lost his father and stepmother in fucked up circumstances. I wish I had recordings that could give a good example of what an otherworldly amazing guitarist Jarrett was. He was the second guitarist on the first two Veil of Thorns demos from 1991 and 1992 respectively.

This is the original lineup:

P. Emerson Williams - Vocals, guitar
Jarrett Laitinen - Guitar
Catherine Chenoweth - Bass
Ruddy Bitch - Drums

Sourced from a reference tape recorded at the station. Some glitches and noise were minimized to the extent possible.

Choronzon - Michelle Remembers

The figure with the ugly shirt and big ears (you do love the mirrorkaleidoscopics) is Joe Six Pack and also every wino that nips at my heels and slobbers at me. I cannot believe how ugly he is. He is the bastard son of Wal-Mart and Choice Point. Anti-Choronzon, face of the Duh Beast. Death by marriage. Marriage by death. The kitchen floor and the ovens, oven cleaner fumes, clean as a whistle, she lies there under the faucet.

The serpent is escaping or about to, but the doors close too fast and it slides into itself...the end, the end, end, end, the one with no beginning or middle.

Michelle Remembers chronicles Pazder's therapy in the late 1970s with his long-time patient Michelle Smith. Smith allegedly recovered memories of Satanic ritual abuse that occurred when she was a child in the 1950s at the hands of her mother (Virginia Proby) and others in Victoria, British Columbia. Among other things, Smith recovered memories of being placed with a corpse in a car that was then deliberately crashed near the Malahat highway, being kept locked in a cage with snakes without sleep or sustenance for weeks, being forced to ingest poison and other noxious substances, and taking part in bizarre ceremonies in a round room and at the Ross Bay Cemetery (e.g.: being placed in an open grave and having dead cats thrown on her). The book reaches its climax with the details of how in the fall of 1955, Satan himself appeared at an 81-day non-stop ceremony (allegedly involving hundreds of participants) attempting to claim Smith as his own, only to be opposed by Jesus, the Virgin Mary, and the archangel Michael. The book concludes with Smith, having been saved by the Virgin Mary and Jesus, awakening to find she had no memory of the abuse that had occurred and to find her parents telling her that she was recovering from the measles.

Pazder's therapy and treatment for Smith's alleged experiences included hypnotism, exorcism, and conversion to Catholicism. During this time (the late 1970s), Smith was named as the co-respondent (the "other woman") in Pazder's divorce. Pazder and Smith later married (she had been married to Doug Smith during the therapy).

Pazder died suddenly and unexpectedly in his home in March of 2004 of a heart attack. Smith still lives in Victoria. Michelle Remembers is out-of-print as of 2006.
